The Fragility of Tradition
Three women. One tradition. A legacy reborn.
West Encounters East : The Fragility of Tradition, is a documentary short that focuses on three distinctly different female artists who are in various stages of their lives and careers. Each artist is as original as her detailed and magnificent artwork, yet all of their stories diverge at the point of keeping the fragile tradition of Kogei alive for future generations.
Despite the difference in their ages and backgrounds, these artists are artistic sisters, proving themselves in a society where for centuries Kogei was strictly a male dominated world. Historically women, no matter their education or degree of talent, could only peer in, and observe, never allowed to participate because of their gender. The Fragility of Tradition proves that through creativity and resilience, how feminine willpower can enhance tradition and make it stronger.
